A Houston roofing team with a Houston office
Ideal Precision Roofing & Exteriors runs its Houston-area projects from an office at 118 Vintage Park Blvd, Suite W, in northwest Houston (77070), with a local line at (832) 497-5441. The company has been in business since 2000, is headquartered in San Antonio, and is listed by GAF as a Master Elite contractor and President’s Club recipient, so Houston homeowners get a nearby team backed by an established Texas roofer.
We repair and replace residential roofs, inspect storm damage, and handle gutters, siding and windows. We also work on commercial, multi-family and HOA buildings. Every project starts with a free inspection and a written estimate that spells out materials, scope, cleanup and warranty terms before any work is scheduled.

Houston permits and windstorm rules
The City of Houston requires a residential roofing permit for a re-roof or roofing overlay. The Houston Permitting Center requires plan review and an inspection, and the permit must stay on site until final approval. Suburban cities and unincorporated Harris County addresses follow their own rules, so we confirm the jurisdiction for your address before your job is scheduled.
Most of Houston is outside the Texas windstorm catastrophe area. In Harris County, the exception is property inside the city limits of La Porte, Morgan’s Point, Pasadena, Seabrook and Shoreacres east of State Highway 146 (Texas Department of Insurance). There, re-roofs and roof repairs must be built to TDI’s requirements and inspected during construction by a TDI inspector or appointed engineer before TDI issues a Certificate of Compliance (Form WPI-8). That certificate keeps the home eligible for wind and hail coverage through TWIA. If your home is in one of those areas, tell us up front so the inspection is scheduled while the roof is going on, not after.
What Houston roofs are up against
Hurricane and tropical-storm wind
Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30 and peaks around September 10, according to the National Hurricane Center. Houston doesn’t need a direct landfall to see roof damage: during Hurricane Beryl on July 8, 2024, the National Weather Service recorded gusts of about 83 mph at Bush Intercontinental and 84 mph at Hobby (NWS Houston/Galveston). Wind usually gets in at the edges first, so we pay close attention to starter strips, ridge caps, nailing patterns and drip edge, and we install shingles to the manufacturer’s high-wind instructions.
Heat, humidity and heavy rain
Long, humid summers bake shingles and trap moisture in poorly ventilated attics. We check intake and exhaust ventilation on every replacement, because a balanced attic helps shingles last and keeps moisture off the decking. Dark streaks and moss on shaded slopes are common here; ask about algae-resistant shingle options if your roof has them. Heavy downpours also expose weak valleys, roof-to-wall flashing and undersized gutters, which is why our leak inspections trace water through the whole system instead of just patching the stain you can see.
After a storm hits your Houston home
- Stay off the roof and away from downed lines. Photograph visible damage from the ground.
- Call your insurance company to ask about reporting requirements and deadlines.
- Call our Houston line at (832) 497-5441 to schedule a free inspection, and ask about temporary protection if water is coming in.
- Keep photos, estimates and receipts together for your claim.
We document what we find with photos and a written estimate you can share with your insurer. Your insurance company decides coverage. Texas law (Business & Commerce Code §27.02) prohibits a contractor paid from insurance proceeds from waiving, absorbing or rebating your deductible, and contracts of $1,000 or more must state that you are responsible for it (TDI). A roofer who offers to “cover your deductible” is offering to break that law. We won’t.

Houston roofing questions
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Houston? Yes. The City of Houston requires a residential roofing permit for a re-roof or overlay, with plan review and an inspection. Other cities in the area set their own rules.
Is my home in the windstorm inspection area? Only if it is inside La Porte, Morgan’s Point, Pasadena, Seabrook or Shoreacres city limits and east of State Highway 146. Elsewhere in Houston, a TDI windstorm certificate isn’t part of a typical re-roof.
Will you handle my insurance claim? We inspect, photograph the damage and write the estimate you can submit. Your insurer decides coverage, and you remain responsible for your deductible under Texas law.
How fast can someone look at my roof? Call (832) 497-5441. We’ll give you the next open inspection time when you call.
