A DFW roofing team based in Allen
Ideal Precision Roofing & Exteriors serves the Dallas–Fort Worth area from an office at 450 Century Parkway, Suite 250, in Allen (75013), with a local line at (972) 521-6956. The company has been in business since 2000, is headquartered in San Antonio, and is listed by GAF as a Master Elite contractor and President’s Club recipient.
In North Texas most of our work starts with hail: inspecting roofs after a storm, documenting damage, and replacing roofs that can’t be reliably repaired. We also handle leak repairs, planned replacements, gutters, siding and windows, plus commercial, multi-family and HOA roofs. Every project starts with a free inspection and a written estimate.

Permits in Dallas, Allen and nearby cities
Every city sets its own rules, and the property’s city decides them, not our office address. In Dallas, replacing large areas of a roof or the entire roof requires a re-roof permit, while minor repairs to roofing or roof vents don’t (City of Dallas). The city’s Building Inspection FAQ exempts single-family and duplex re-roofing only when the work is $500 or less, and roofing contractors register with the city.
Allen has its own process, including a final roof installation affidavit. Plano, McKinney, Frisco and the other cities we serve each publish their own requirements. Your proposal will say who pulls the permit, which inspections apply, and what closeout paperwork you’ll get.
What North Texas roofs are up against
Hail, and lots of it
Texas led the nation with 902 major hail events (hail an inch or larger) in 2025, according to NOAA data compiled by the Insurance Information Institute. DFW knows the worst case: the May 5, 1995 Mayfest storm dropped hail up to softball size and caused about $2 billion in damage across Tarrant and Dallas counties (National Weather Service Fort Worth).
Hail damage isn’t always visible from the ground. Bruised shingles, lost granules, cracked vents and dented flashing can let water in months later. When we inspect after a storm, we photograph the specific damage that supports our recommendation and note any areas we couldn’t safely reach. A hail report for your neighborhood doesn’t prove every roof was damaged, so we look at yours.
Choosing a shingle for hail country
Many North Texas homeowners ask about impact-rated (Class 4) shingles. We’ll show you the exact product and its documented rating. An impact rating doesn’t make a roof hail-proof or guarantee an insurance discount, so check with your insurer about any discount before counting on it.
After a hailstorm hits your home
- Stay off the roof. Photograph visible damage, including dented gutters, vents and patio furniture, from the ground.
- Call your insurance company to ask about reporting requirements and deadlines.
- Call our DFW line at (972) 521-6956 for a free inspection, and ask about temporary protection if water is coming in.
- Keep photos, estimates and receipts together for your claim.
We document what we find with photos and a written estimate you can share with your insurer. Your insurance company decides coverage. Texas law (Business & Commerce Code §27.02) prohibits a contractor paid from insurance proceeds from waiving, absorbing or rebating your deductible, and contracts of $1,000 or more must state that you are responsible for it (TDI). Storm-chasing crews that offer to “cover your deductible” are offering to break that law. We won’t.

DFW roofing questions
Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Dallas? Yes for a full or large-area re-roof. Dallas exempts minor repairs and single-family re-roof work of $500 or less. Suburbs like Allen and Plano have their own rules.
Should I get impact-resistant shingles? They’re worth considering in hail country. We’ll compare the exact products and ratings, but no shingle is hail-proof, and any insurance discount is up to your insurer.
Will you handle my insurance claim? We inspect, photograph the damage and write the estimate you can submit. Your insurer decides coverage, and you pay your deductible under Texas law.
How fast can someone look at my roof? Call (972) 521-6956. We’ll give you the next open inspection time when you call.
